Talavera is a decorative pottery tradition found primarily in Italy, the Iberian peninsula, and Mexico. This class will explore the principal characteristics of the style and how to adapt them to different ceramic pieces. Students will be able to strengthen their pottery decorating skills and develop their own Talavera-inspired designs. We will provide greenware tiles for students to decorate and/or we invite you to bring greenware of your own as well. The class is open to all experience levels.

Fredy Granillo worked for more than 15 years in a Talavera style ceramics workshop in El Salvador, Central America. He holds a B.A. in ceramics from the National University of El Salvador. He is visiting Chestertown until January.
