Painting the Figure with Diane Rappisi
October 9 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Join Diane Rappisi for a fresh perspective on the ever-challenging, always beautiful, human figure. Working from the live (nude) model, participants will manage the critical components of composition, gesture, shape, structure, and color. Students begin monochromatically in either charcoal or oil grisaille, and proceed to full color work in pastel or oil.
Diane Rappisi is an American contemporary realist painter whose work fuses the light and chroma of the Impressionist colorists with the form and structure of the traditional Italian and French academies. She works in pastel, oil, charcoal, and graphite. She juried the 2019 Portrait and Figure category of the “Pastel 100” for the Pastel Journal, and is featured in the new hardcover book “Pure Pastel: Contemporary Works by Today’s Top Artists.” In 2017, Diane conducted a workshop tour through 10 cities in Australia and New Zealand. She dedicates much of her off time to her position on the Board of Directors of IAPS, and recently served as the Interim President of Studio Incamminati.
