Charming Silver Clay Earrings

Have you always wanted to sink your fingers into precious metal clay but didn’t know where to begin? This is your chance to learn the ropes. In this workshop, students will learn how to create unique fine silver charms for earrings out of pure silver clay. Every aspect of charm making will be covered including handling clay, texturing, stamping, sanding, firing and finishing the silver charms. Students will also learn metalsmith techniques including, how to create torch fired headpins, beaded wrapped loops and drops, formed links and ear wires. Come have fun creating a unique pair of earrings you will be proud to say you made. A perfect Valentine’s Day gift for you or someone you love! The workshop time is 10-2pm with a 1/2 hour lunch break for firing in the kiln.
Supplies: $50 Kit payable to instructor at time of class (5 grams of silver PMC, 6 inches of gauge sterling silver wire, 8 inches of 20 gauge sterling silver wire, 6 inches of 22 gauge argentium wire, 6mm, 4mm and 3mm crystal drops.) All other materials and tools provided but if you have any rubber stamps (scrapbooking) that you would like to bring for texturing or flat and round nose pliers and wire cutters please bring along.
Ages 16+ Most people will complete this project in class.
