Beginner Pottery Wheel, Evenings – Summer 2019
July 11 @ 6:00 pm
This is your opportunity to learn how to create functional bowls, cups, and vases on the potter’s wheel. In our eight-week introductory class with Marilee Schumann, you will learn the basics of clay preparation, steps for throwing a pot on the wheel, finishing techniques, and glaze application in addition to aesthetic theory and a smattering of history.
This course is designed for people with a healthy curiosity, those who dabbled in school, and those who wish to go back to the basics to refine best practices for the pottery process (beginning to end). You will create several finished pieces during the class, and you will have access to open studio time seven days of the week to practice and pursue your own clay interests. There is a small kiln/glaze fee for completed wares.
The first 25-lb bag of clay and 8 open studio tickets are included in the class fee. (Value $102)
Beginner tool kits are available for $27
Ages 16 and older.
