Join master potter Marilee Schumann for a Raku Pottery workshop and gathering. The workshop will take place at Schumann’s new clay studio and includes the firing of pots. You may bring your own pottery to fire, or you may purchase pots at the event from between $5 for a small piece to $25 for a large piece.

Important Dates:
August 29 – 10:00 (RiverArts Clay Studio – 204 High St., Chestertown) – What is Raku? Info Session – Free and open to the public. Those interested in signing up for the workshop are invited to come learn more about what Raku is.

September 27 – Deadline for wet work to be bisque fired prior to the Raku workshop for those making their own pottery. Regular firing fees apply.

About the Instructor
Marilee Schumann has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the University of Maryland and taught ceramics at Washington College, Chestertown, where she did her undergraduate studies. Functional and decorative ceramic vessels with contemporary style and elegant glazes are a specialty, although her work encompasses cast metal, mixed media constructions and even rustic furniture. Marilee has exhibited widely, including at Artworks and RiverArts, and has received numerous awards for her art.
