A class for intermediate to advanced students who want to continue to develop their throwing and creative technique through one-on-one teaching and self-directed projects. For more advanced learners, the focus will be on aesthetics, craftsmanship, and personal expression.
Fees: Tuition includes your first 25 lbs of clay and first bisque firing. There is an extra fee for glaze firings dependent on the size of your pieces. Beginning students will need a tool kit which is available for purchase at the first meeting. Approximate cost of kit is $15.
About the Instructor
Marilee Schumann has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the University of Maryland and taught ceramics at Washington College, Chestertown, where she did her undergraduate studies. Functional and decorative ceramic vessels with contemporary style and elegant glazes are a specialty, although her work encompasses cast metal, mixed media constructions and even rustic furniture. Marilee has exhibited widely, including at Artworks and RiverArts, and has received numerous awards for her art.
