Marilee Schumann

Marilee Schumann has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the University of Maryland and taught ceramics at Washington College in Chestertown. Functional and decorative ceramic vessels with contemporary style and elegant glazes are a specialty although her work encompasses cast metal, mixed media constructions and even rustic furniture. She has won awards for her sculpture and created a piece for Kofi Anan in his role as President of the U.N. She is co-owner of the Tree of Life Gallery in Chestertown, MD.

More advanced techniques on the potter’s wheel, including closed forms, lids and altered forms, taught by Marilee Schumann. In addition to improving your skills on the wheel, we will work on decorating and glazing techniques. An emphasis will be made on individual expression. Included in cost of class is your first 25 pounds of clay, a $22 value. Ages 16 & older.

This is your opportunity to learn how to create functional bowls, cups, and vases on the potter’s wheel.
