Clovelly Farms

Hours Open on July 25 and 26: 12:00 – 4:00 pm

Our Vineyard is situated on the south-facing hillside of Clovelly Farm overlooking the Chester River. RivertrioThe orientation of the vineyard allows the grapes to receive optimal sunlight and beneficial river breezes that help regulate temperatures and promote vine health.

Our vines were planted over four years beginning in 2009 and completed in 2012. The plantings cover ten acres and originally included more than ten varieties of grapes. The varieties included Vinifera and hybrid varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Barbera, Merlot, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Vidal, Traminette, Chambourcin and Pinot Gris. Plantings were spaced 6 ” apart with 10’-row spacing.  Over the next few years, we plan to increase the density of the plantings throughout the vineyard to increase yields
and flavors.

Clovelly wines are made from grapes planted on our waterfront vineyard. The vineyard parallels the Chester River at one of its most beautiful curves. The Chester River is a major tributary of the Chesapeake Bay on the Delmarva Peninsula, spanning approximately 43 miles into the interior of Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Our grapes benefit from the warm river breezes of the Chester and the rich soils of Clovelly Farm. Our wines are made from 100% hand harvested Clovelly grapes. We welcome you to learn more about our vineyard and to enjoy our wines.
