Clay Studio Private Class- Youth One on One

December 12, 2018 @ 8:00 am - December 31, 2019 @ 5:00 pm

This course is designed to give one youngster (ages 10-15,)  individual attention from one of our accomplished instructors. The child may choose between the wheel or hand building. The course will be up to 2 hours long and the student will be able to keep ONE piece to be completed (trimmed & glazed) by the instructor and fired in the kiln. Please note, this is not a group class. Each additional child will be another $125. Age Restrictions:  10-15  

Talavera Style Painting

June 29 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

A 3 hour workshop that will teach the basic techniques necessary to create decorative Talavera designs.  Students will learn to apply different kinds of lines and decorative brush strokes to their pieces. The instructor will show characteristic palette combinations used in talavera, and how to transfer designs to ceramic pieces. 2-3 completed tiles are included with this workshop. Intensive Intermediate Wheel

A four-week intensive course for intermediate wheel-throwing with a focus on non-functional purposes. We will be making objects with a non-utilitarian perspective as a way of re-thinking the functional. Each week we will address a new theme of tableware: cups, bowls, plates—objects of the commonplace within our homes. We will explore an array of throwing techniques such as trimming, handles, lids, spouts, knobs, throwing off the hump, composite-building, altering, throwing in sections, and more.
