Talavera Decoration Class

July 1 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Students will spend a day learning the basic techniques to decorate bisque ware with colorful brush stroke designs.  Each student can interpret the designs and techniques depending on their skill level and experience. The Bisqueware , paint and glaze is included in the cost of the class.

Love the sound of wind chimes? Here's your opportunity to create one to grace your backyard, or give as a gift. In this two day class, July 5th & 19th, Clay Studio potter Dianna Frymiare will show participants how to hand build all pieces necessary to complete one wind chime, and then decorate and glaze the work on the second date. A class for intermediate to advanced students who want to continue to develop their throwing and creative technique through one-on-one teaching and self-directed projects. For more advanced learners, the focus will be on aesthetics, craftsmanship, and personal expression. Fees: Tuition includes your first 25 lbs of clay and bisque firing. There is an extra fee for glaze firings dependent on the size of your pieces.
 Toolkits are available for purchase during the first class meeting for $25.

More advanced techniques on the potter’s wheel, including closed forms, lids and altered forms. Decorating and glazing continued. Projects may reflect students’ individual skill levels and goals. Focus will be on aesthetics, craftsmanship, and personal expression. .Fees: Tuition includes your first 25 lbs of clay and bisque firing. Try It! Discover the Magic of Clay

Always thought it looked like fun to throw clay on the potter’s wheel? Here’s your chance to try it at a one-time 2½ hour session. You’ll get basic instruction from a great teacher and hands-on help from friendly assistants. You’ll get a feel for the clay and discover how magic is made on the potter’s wheel. Students will learn the process to make functional ceramics on the pottery wheel – including glazing. Focus will be on aesthetics, craftsmanship, and personal expression. Students should wear clothes that can get messy, bring a towel, a beverage, and a sense of humor. Register now! Fees: Tuition includes your first 25 lbs of clay and bisque firing.
