After School Enrichment Program
The KidSPOT After School Enrichment is comprised of two 6 week programs, (one in Fall of 2017 and one in Winter of 2018).
Our 2018 session begins on February 5, 2018
Dates are as follows for weekly sessions, which run Monday-Friday:
February 5 – 9
February 12 – 16
February 26 – March 2
March 5 – 9
March 12 – 16
Sessions run from 4 to 6 pm daily, with snacks provided. Children should be dropped off between 3:50 and 4:00.
This program is designed for first through fifth graders with a maximum of 10 participants, It is led by experienced teacher, Elizabeth Healy and additional instructors.
Sessions will include both open ended (exploratory) and directed activities with seasonal and community themes that incorporate aspects of the S.T.E.A.M model to enrich children’s understanding of how individual subjects relate to each other and contribute to a greater appreciation and understanding of our world.
Monday -Tuesday WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD!– Children will learn about language, customs and art from a variety of cultures. They will explore S.T.E.A.M concepts through hands-on activities and field trips.
New for the 2018 Spring Session will be exploring Poetry
Wednesday FUN & GAMES – Children will learn and play a variety of non- competitive games and explore movement with yoga and dance.
Instructor –Marie Sneddon
Thursday –THEATER ARTS – Children will explore performance art with reader’s theater, improvisation, puppetry and theater games.
Program will culminate in an After School Play Presentation.

3:45 – 4:00 Pick up at Garnet Elementary. Elizabeth walks students to KidSPOT
4:00 Students from other locations arrive
4:00-4:30 Snack and open ended activities available
4:30-5:45 Present and engage in exploration of the day
5:45-6:00 Clean-up-Parents pick up children by 6:00
The after school program runs Monday -Thursday from 4:00-6:00
Cost: $60 per week / $15 per day. Minimum of 2 days per week.

Elizabeth Healy, both the director of the program and an instructor, taught elementary school in Montana for twenty -five years. After retiring she coordinated and taught summer Art camps and Art Enrichment programs. Currently she volunteers at KidSPOT, coordinates the Kids in the Gallery program, and serves on the KidSPOT advisory board. This is her third year as coordinator/instructor for
KidSPOT After School.
Marie Sneddon earned her degree in Physical Education/Health from Michigan State University. She has taught PE for many years to homeschooled children in a group setting. She is a fitness enthusiast who loves to share the fun of exercise and movement to people of all ages. She looks forward to her third year at KidSPOT After School.
Hester Sachse first came to the Eastern Shore as a student of Washington College, graduating in 2009 and majoring in Theatre, where she directed Much Ado About Nothing for her senior thesis. Hester recently took on the position of Executive Manager at Church Hill Theatre, and is delighted to also be returning to RiverArts this year.
